Position Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic organization. The Annual Giving Officer is essential in advancing the mid-level giving program at the AACC Foundation and establishing new and enhancing existing donor relationships.

Pay dates occur on the 7th and 22nd of each month. If those dates fall on a weekend, the pay date occurs on the Friday prior to the 7th and 22nd. As an employee of the college, you are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package. .

In the best interest of the College, only individuals who are residents of Maryland or one of the following states will be eligible for employment at the college: Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia. The college will annually review this restriction and, if appropriate, expand the list of states of employment eligibility.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Annual Giving Officer is responsible for planning and implementing strategies associated with annual giving initiatives for mid-level donors, largely scholarship donors, that inspire new and renewed donor support. This front-line fundraising position will manage a donor portfolio and is responsible for building relationships with and cultivating current and prospective donors to increase revenue from donors of $1,000 and more.

Donor Cultivation and Engagement: Manage, engage, and cultivate a portfolio of mid-level donors at the $1,000+ level, largely scholarship contacts, to ensure ongoing support of scholarship funds and nurture other philanthropic gifts.
o Includes phone calls and regular face-to-face visits

Donor Acquisition: Identify prospective donors through research and college networks to help grow the donor base.

Pipeline Development: Analyze giving patterns to identify existing annual donors who might transition to major donors in collaboration with the fundraising team.

Donor Stewardship: Coordinate donor stewardship opportunities in concert with the fundraising team.

Donor Reporting: Draft well-written donor reports that share philanthropic impact as part of overall stewardship efforts.

Strategic Program Development: Create and implement an annual giving strategy for appeals and mid-tier gift development to increase annual fund-giving and donor participation including the Fall appeal cycle, year-end lapsed donors, and special giving days. Including:
• Produce compelling appeals to encourage charitable contributions.
• Provide carefully segmented and scrubbed lists for review and mailing/emailing, working with the Advancement Data Specialist and front-line fundraisers.
• Track appeal activity including donor response rate to demonstrate impact in partnership with Advancement Data Specialist

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

Minimum of two - five years experience in front line, nonevent-based fundraising. preferably at an educational institution.

Experience qualifying, soliciting, closing and stewarding philanthropic gifts.
Experience creating and implementing an annual giving strategy for appeals and mid-tier gift development to increase annual fund-giving and donor participation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite applications required; proficiency with donor database software (Raiser’s Edge) preferred.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes local travel to accommodate the needs of the College and Foundation.
Demonstrate organizational and problem-solving skills, including the ability to anticipate needs and issues.
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and with attention to accuracy, details and deadlines.
Ability to engage effectively and tactfully with donors, prospective donors, faculty, staff, administrators, and the public.
Ability to receive and use confidential information with appropriate discretion.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, as are excellent interpersonal skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: THIS POSITION IS OVERTIME-EXEMPT

Related experience at an high educational institution preferred.
